19. Given the same weather conditions, why do some airlines postpone their flights, where others do not?

Weather forecast directly influences flight operations.

Flight restrictions due to poor weather conditionscan result from the capacity/utilization of the airport, technical performance of aircraft, airline’s certified specifications, and aircraft pilot-in-command limitations etc.

Therefore, flight delays are directly related to above mentioned limitations.

For instance, the accepted maximum tailwind limitations during take-off and landing for some airline operationsare 10 knots (5.14 m/s), whereas MIAT Mongolian Airlines operations permits 15 knots (7,74 m/s) of tailwind.

Hence, if Chinggis-Khaan International Airport experiences tailwind less than 15 knots (7,74 m/s), our company has the permission to take-off, whereas other airlines which has 10 knots limitations must postpone/delay their flight.

20. What are the reasons, when it was informed that seats are fully booked, but you found lots of empty seats in the cabin?

All aircraft has specific technical performance limitations set from the manufacturer. In other words, it describes how much amount of load the aircraft can handle against the gravitational force whilst flying. In order to comply with the flight safety procedures, a lot of factors (runway strip, temperature conditions, wind velocity etc.) are taken into consideration. In some cases, due to the aircraft load limitations, it can fly with less number of passengers than the designed seat capacity.
